ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Posted by Hendry chinnapparaj on April 20, 2011

got the error “ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied ” when attempting to connect using a database link.  How to I resolve the ORA-01017 error?

Solution:

This is specific to Oracle11g where the password is case sensitive. when you create the database link for a 11g database, make sure you provide the password in quotes

e-x.

create public database link lmip connect to lmi_datamart identified by “password here” using ‘lmi1p’;
